DESIGN BIND has a long history in Auckland offering Book Binding and Print Finishing services. Founding owner and Director Daniel Lanigan started his trade apprenticeship as a teenager in the late 1970s working for Wilson and Horton, now known as NZ Hearld, during his time there he learnt the skill of Hand Bookbinding, along with commercial binding and print finishing. With Daniels high knowledge and desire to succeed he started his own business as a trade finishing house working alongside many of Auckland’s printers.
As time evolved in 2005 Daniel and Nadene split the company in half and moved the Hand Book Binding division to the Northshore. With passion and pride we were then able to concentrate on the more specialised custom work that we still enjoy doing today from our custom built studio in Albany.
With Traditional bookbinding Our work is all done by hand, therefore this allows us to connect the old and new and always acknowledging the past and the present, we have a wealth of knowledge and work closely with Designers and creative agencies to deliver award winning results.
Nadene helped Daniel establish Design Bind and now owns, runs and manages DesignBind Ltd full time. Haviong now been in the binding and print finishing business for 20+ years, Nadene has a wealth of knowledge on resolving clients binding needs.
Daniel who passed away in 2019 setup Design Bind Ltd to allow him to provide his own personal touch to clients jobs. He was always busy finding unique solutions to Design Bind's handcrafted products and services.
Daniel has been part of the print industry since he completed his apprenticeship in book binding and print finishing and holds an advanced trade certificate. He has now been binding books for 33 years and still has all his fingers. Having worked in many different print companies he had gained a wealth of experience related to printing and binding.
Daniel had a creative flare and enjoys coming up with design solutions to new and challenging projects which brought many benefits to DesignBinds custom solutions to customers Binding and Print finishing requirements.
Nadene continues the many great tradition that Daniel brought to DesignBind Ltd.
